Given a recommendation to visit Peru, I found myself in close proximity to the sacred monument of Machu Picchu. Logistically, it was quite a lot to plan not having done any research, but my story will shed some light on how to get in successfully.
When I arrived in Aqua Calientes, I had to go to the tourism office. Luckily, a short queue, a man seated in the doorway of a government building at a little table handed me a slip of paper with a number and a time. That was all. He didn’t speak to me and I was to figure out what it all meant.
Standing above the clouds, I took in the scope of this extraordinary place.
