annapurna range, himalayas & snowstorms

Mar 7, 2024

All over the world, my friends received copious amounts of snow this season, whilst I sat in a bleak, non-descript Georgia longing for a chance to play.
Planning a sojourn to Colorado, I thought I absolutely would get my fill.
Nearing the end of my trip, I came to Estes Park Sunday night and prayed. The light fluffy flakes started just after I lay my head on the pillow & haven’t stopped.

Serenity. Bliss. Giddy with excitement, my snow pants are on and I’m off to make snow angels, snowmen & throw snowballs (at nothing in particular).

Since the thick falling snow is hindering my view of the Rocky Mountains, I posted a photo of another snowy scene that makes my heart leap. The Annapurnas in the Himalayas certainly kicked my butt — a defeat that many climbers know — but filled my soul.

Mountains do what they want, from minute to minute. They are truly a metaphor for life. Just when you think you’re in control, conditions change.

Waking up, embracing the beauty of another day and be grateful for that snowstorm you weren’t sure would come.
But did.
